Cheryl
A. Lane, CPA, MBA, a
Registered Investment Advisor Cheryl helps her clients reach their wealth building and
protection goals by creating business structures and tax strategies to protect
their assets and provide for efficient business succession and transfers of
wealth for closely-held businesses and family estates. Cheryl is a
nationally-known real estate tax expert and has structured many sophisticated
real estate transactions. Her financial planning services include retirement and
estate plans, insurance, investment and charitable-gift planning, as well as
employee benefit design, primarily on a tax deferred basis. Through her
affiliation as a branch manager for Linsco/Private-Ledger (LPL), Cheryl is able to offer a wide
range of financial products and services with which to implement her clients’
plans for accumulating and safeguarding their wealth for the benefit of
themselves and their heirs.
OTHER PROFESSIONAL LICENSES AND EDUCATION:
Cheryl is a Licensed Securities Principal and registered to sell financial
products in many states. She is a CPA, a Registered Investment Advisor,
and an Associated Person for Managed Futures contracts, as well as a Life,
Disability, & Long-term Care Insurance Agent. She received her Master’s
Degree from Golden Gate University’s School of Taxation and spent several
years as president of the Alumni Association for their School of Taxation. She graduated with distinction
from Sonoma State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in
Management with a concentration in Finance and Economics.
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AND TAX CONSULTING:
While working for International CPA firms throughout the United States and
Europe, she developed sophisticated financial strategies for foreign investments
into U.S. enterprises. She has advised numerous American expatriates concerning
their tax planning while working and living abroad. During her European tour of
duty with PriceWaterhouse, Cheryl was advisor to executives of multinational
companies regarding all aspects of their business and financial planning and
developed numerous strategies for the preservation of their U.S. businesses and
estates. Through major international banks, Cheryl introduces her clients to the
many advantages of offshore planning and overseas investment.
PRIOR EXPERIENCE:
Before she formed her own advisory firm, Cheryl was a principal and national
real estate expert for Arthur Young & Co. in San Francisco, where she was
responsible for developing tax strategies for domestic and international
investors. She also performed numerous feasibility studies and due diligence
studies for prospective investors in U. S. real estate projects. She has
provided consulting services to Fortune 500 companies as well as closely-held
companies and wealthy estates. Prior to Arthur Young, she was a Senior Tax
Manager for Touche Ross and Co. in Los Angeles. She was nationally recognized
throughout their firm for her financial analysis and creative tax planning
solutions. She was Touche Ross’ National Real Estate Investment Trust expert.
Before joining Touche Ross, she was a Tax Manager for Laventhol & Horwath in
San Francisco. Cheryl also spent four years as a tax consultant for Price
Waterhouse & Co. in their San Francisco and Paris offices.
PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS AND OTHER ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Cheryl edited the Tax Tips column of the San Francisco Examiner. She was the
first women governor to sit on the board of the National Association of Real
Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT). She is a president Emeritus of the Golden
Gate University Tax Alumni. She is a member of the Marin County Estate Planning
Council, the Northern California Planned Giving Council, the Alliance of Mergers
and Acquisition Advisors, the California
Association of Business Brokers and the International Who’s Who of
Entrepreneurs. She has written and teaches numerous seminars on tax and
financial planning subjects for the Lane Financial Institute.
Many of her lecture series qualify as continuing education courses for attorneys, CPAs, Insurance Agents,
Certified Financial Planners, and enrolled agents. Cheryl is a member of
the Planned Giving Committee for The American Red Cross and the Finance
Committee for The Saint Vincent de Paul Society in San Francisco.
James H. Lane,
Certified Tax Preparer.
James Lane is the president of Le
Groupe Lane Internationale, and manages the group's overseas operations.
James is a Certified Tax Preparer and has been providing tax advice and
preparation services to Lane Group clients for over ten years.

Elmont (Monty) Carlton Lane, II.
Monty is the Technology Manager for the Lane
Group. He has managed the operations of The Lane Group's U.S. offices for
close to ten years.
